Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), which was based in Washington DC. In the following two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of significant stories, including the Iran-Contra controversy, tax reform and the budget and also the arms control. She traveled extensively along with the president Reagan to meet together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
